He won the 2023 International Handel Singing Competition and the Helmut Deutsch Song Competition, secured the Prix de mélodie at the 2023 Lili et Nadia Boulanger competition in Paris and won the Young Artists Platform at the International Song Festival Zeist in Utrecht in 2024. He works with prestigious ensembles including the Monteverdi Choir and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
Nancy is the Artistic Director of the Lewes Festival of Song which she founded in 2015. She studied piano with Joseph Weingarten and Maria Donska, played for singers’ masterclasses at the Britten-Pears School and was on the music staff at Glyndebourne for many years, and has specialised in the song and chamber music repertoire, performing in many of the well-known festivals around Britain and abroad.
We begin with Butterworth’s On Bredon Hill and other songs and end with Strange Bridge, John Hawkin’s settings of poems by Edward Thomas. In between we focus on late romantic Lieder by Alma and Gustav Mahler, Sibelius, Zemlinsky and Strauss, mainly to poems by Richard Dehmel.
