A journey through Samuel Barber’s beautiful songs which reflect his deep feeling for poetry. Our concert includes Dover Beach, and his famous Adagio in its original form for string quartet.

ELLIE LAUGHARNE

Ellie Laugharne was a Jerwood Young Artist at Glyndebourne Festival and more recently an Associate Artist for Opera North . She is a Company Artist for The Mozartists who she looks forward to returning to for concerts at The Cadogan Hall, in Sicily and in Vienna.

Florian Störtz - bass-baritone

FLORIAN STÖRTZ

Florian Störtz won the 2023 International Handel Singing Competition, the 2023 Helmut Deutsch Song Competition and together with pianist Mark Rogers, the Prix de mélodie at the 2023 International Voice-Piano Competition ‘Lili et Nadia Boulanger’ in Paris.

    Kate Comberti

    KATE COMBERTI

    Kate Comberti has performed with the London Sinfonietta and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, the Salzberg Morzarteum, and the Royal Festival Hall. 

    She enjoys new and challenging repertoire. Among her notable performances are a nationwide tour in Canada of Eight Songs for a Mad King and Miss Donnithorne's Maggot (Peter Maxwell Davies), for the Canadian Broadcasting Company, and Nexus.

      Ellie Blackshaw

      ELLIE BLACKSHAW

      Ellie Blackshaw’s freelances as a violinist/violist and has a varied teaching practice. She plays with many ensembles including ‘Bare-Faced Violas’, Ensemble Reza and the Corelli Ensemble, and is a member of ‘New Music Brighton’, working with many composers over the years with a growing number of works dedicated to her.

        Sally Beamish

        SALLY BEAMISH

        Sally Beamish was a founder member of the Raphael Ensemble, with whom she made several discs of string sextets, and later principal viola in the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and London Mozart Players. She also played with the Academy of St Martins, Lontano and the London Sinfonietta, before moving to Scotland in 1990 to focus on composition. She now lives and works in Brighton.

          Sebastian Comberti

          SEBASTIAN COMBERTI

          Sebastian was a founder member of the Bochmann Quartet until 1983 when he became principal cello with the London Mozart Players, a position he continues to hold. He has appeared as principal cello and soloist with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Hanover Band. As a member of several chamber groups including Trio Goya and Divertimenti Ensemble he has recorded for many labels.
